Tunisia: foreign TO worried after assassination of Chokri Belaid!

Tour Operators (TO) operating on the destination Tunisia expressed their concerns following the assassination, Wednesday morning, of leader of the opposition Chokri Belaid, said the President of the Tunisian Federation of Travel Agencies (FTAV) Mohamed Ali Toumi.

Reached by telephone by TAP, the official added: "these tour operators, including European, contacted us and asked us insights into the current situation in the country." These TO seek to ensure the safety of their clients staying in Tunisia, he said, without ruling out the possibility of cancellations.

The official described as "disastrous" what is happening in Tunisia, noting that the assassination, which is a turning point on the political scene, "will not be without negative impacts on tourism and the destination Tunisia in general." "Until now, we have not recorded cancellations of reservations," Mr. Toumi told Tap, adding "they can identify trends only after 24 hours.
