Tunisia: Launch of tender for development of Gulf of Monastir

Tunisian Environment Minister, Mamya El Banna, has announced the upcoming launch of a tender for the development of the Gulf of Monastir.

She indicated that coastal pollution is a national and regional problem, recalling that a budget of 10 million dinars was allocated to this project as part of the Finance Act 2012.

She stated that the wastewater treatment plant of Lamta, created in 1992 will be closed after completion of the new station which will be operational in 2014.

A commission will monitor progress of these projects with the participation of all segments of civil society, she said.
