Tunisia: Syrian market behind decline in exports of Somocer

Somocer company’s export turnover for the first half of 2012 fell (-25.85%) from 8.487 million Tunisian dinars (MTD) in the first half of 2011 to 6.293 MTD for the same period in 2012, because of disruptions in the Syrian market and the weak recovery of the company’s activities on the Libyan market.

However, local revenues increased from 24.283 MTD in the first half to 26.744 MTD for the same period in 2012, up 10.13%).

The total turnover of 2012 amounted to 35.515 MD and remained almost at the same level compared to the same period of 2011, which stood at 35.540 MTD.
