Tunisia: BNP Paribas will invest in several projects

BNP Paribas is willing to put its expertise at the disposal of Tunisia, to develop some sectors of production, investment and infrastructure projects through its subsidiary in Tunisia, “l'Union Bancaire pour le Commerce et l'Industrie,” (UBCI), said r. Jean-Christophe Durand, Executive Chairman of the Near East and North Africa at the bank.

After his meeting Wednesday at the Government Palace, the Kasbah, with Interim Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali, Mr. Durand stressed in a statement to TAP news agency, "the bank’s confidence in the Tunisian destination as other international financial institutions do not wish to invest there."

The bank could encourage investors to settle in Tunisia through its network of contacts and agencies in the world, he argued.

He added that this meeting is part of a series of encounters to discuss possible financing of projects by BNP Paribas.

These projects, the official said, involve the areas of infrastructure, construction of social housing, transportation and international trade.
