Libya gas exploration project enters second phase

The project aimed at developing the onshore gas deposit, Al-Jorf, managed by Mabrouk, a branch of the Libyan National Oil Corporation, e n tered its second phase of engineering works for the exploration of gas reserves,
estimated at 106 million cubic feet/day.
In a statement issued Thursday on the website of the NOC, Mabrouk indicated that up to late 2009, 43 per cent of the works in this phase had been completed.
The company disclosed that the average rate of reserves of the Al-Jorf well, wit h 120 km square of submerged area is up to 257 million barrels of crude oil/day,
31 billions cubic feet of liquid gas and 131 billion cubic feet of natural gas.
The Al-Jorf deposit has 16 wells, including 14 that have already been executed a nd 11 additional wells with 85 per cent of works achieved for a production capac i ty beyond 30,000 barrels per day.
Mabrouk plans to explore a couple of wells, namely "Al Dohara" and "Gharyane", i n a bid to enhance their capacities and have to produce up to 26,000 oil barrels per day from 2013.
