Morocco Telecom raked in 2.6 billion euros in 2008

Moroccan Communications giant, Maroc Telecom, a subsidia ry of Vivendi International, earned a turnover of 2.6 billion euros in 2008, rep r esenting an increase of 7% from the earnings of 2007, a communiqué issued by the
company revealed here Wednesday.
The performance is the result of its strong growth in the mobile telephone activ ities in Morocco, Maroc Telecom said.
Maroc Telecom has a strong presence in West Africa, owning 51% shares in Gabon T elecom and it is the main shareholder of Mauritel, the Mauritanian telecommunications company, since April 2001.
It has also bought into Onatel, in Burkina Faso, since December 2006, and report edly wants to invest in Cameroon and Egypt.
