Libya invested over US$ 1 billion in Africa in 2008

Giving details of its investments in Africa in 20 08 on the sidelines of the Africa Union Commission summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiop i a, Libya has organised a fair depicting the investments.
At the fair, Libyan companies are showing off their products and where they coul d be found in various parts of Africa.
A poster placed at the fair gives precise details on the volume of Libyan invest ments in Africa which began in 1991 with a financial allocation of 31,867,585 Ly b ian dinars (1,250 dinars Libyan = 1 US dollar) to reach, in 2008, 1 billion 93 m i llion 847 thousand 722 dinars.
The investments are in the tourism, agriculture, forest, industrial, commercial and mining sectors.
A map of the African continent placed at the centre of the stand showed that Lib yan investments were in Tunisia, Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea, Cote d'Ivoire, Bur k ina Faso, Ghana, Gabon, Congo, Central Africa, Chad, Niger, Egypt, Sudan, Erythr é e, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Madagascar, Zambia, South Africa, Gambia, Togo, Beni n , Sao Tome and Principe, Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau , Rwanda, Burundi, Seychelles and Comoros Islands.
